- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup strawberry jam
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 2 tablespoons milk or cream
- 1 drop pink food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Cream together the butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add vanilla extract and salt, mix until combined.
- Gradually add flour and cornstarch, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Wrap dough in plastic and chill for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
- Roll dough to 1/4 inch thick on a floured surface.
- Cut heart shapes using a cookie cutter and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
- Cool completely on a wire rack.
- Spread strawberry jam on half of the cookies and top with the remaining halves.
- Mix powdered sugar and milk to create a thick glaze.
- Tint glaze with pink food coloring if desired.
- Spread glaze on top of each cookie and let set before serving.
