Description

These spicy shrimp deviled eggs are a delightful appetizer that combines the creaminess of deviled eggs with the taste of shrimp and spices.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 large eggs
  • 12 small cooked shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp paprika (plus extra for garnish)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp chopped chives (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Boil the Eggs:
    • Place the eggs in a pot and cover them with cold water.
    • Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
    • Once boiling, remove from heat and let the eggs sit in hot water for about 10-12 minutes.
    • Transfer the eggs to an ice bath to cool.
  2. Prepare the Filling:
    • Peel the cooled eggs and carefully cut them in half lengthwise.
    • Remove the yolks and place them in a mixing bowl.
    • Mash the yolks with a fork and add mayonnaise, mustard, hot sauce, lemon juice, and paprika.
    • Mix until smooth and season with salt and black pepper.
  3. Assemble the Deviled Eggs:
    • Spoon or pipe the yolk mixture back into the egg whites.
  4. Top with Shrimp:
    • Place a cooked shrimp on top of each filled egg half.
  5. Garnish:
    • Sprinkle each deviled egg with paprika and chopped chives for added flavor and color.

Notes

  • For easier peeling, use older eggs and let them sit at room temperature before boiling.
  • Adjust the amount of hot sauce based on your spice preference.
  • Consider experimenting with different herbs like dill or cilantro for added flavor.
  • For extra creaminess, add a teaspoon of sour cream or Greek yogurt to the yolk mixture.
  • Serve chilled for best flavor.
