Ingredients

- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup hot water
- 1 cup marshmallows (mini or regular)
- Optional: 1/4 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease four microwave-safe mugs.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, combine milk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla. Gradually mix into dry ingredients until just combined.
- Stir in hot water until the batter is smooth; this will be thin.
- Fill each mug halfway with batter and bake for 15-18 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Top with marshmallows while warm and return to the oven for an additional 2-3 minutes until soft.
- Optionally sprinkle with chocolate chips before serving.
