Description
A comforting and vibrant pasta dish featuring ground turkey, penne, and a rich tomato sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 oz pasta (penne or rigatoni)
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ¼ cup fresh basil, chopped
Instructions
- Cook the pasta – Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package directions until al dente. Reserve about ½ cup of pasta water before draining.
- Sauté the aromatics – In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook for about 3–4 minutes until soft and fragrant. Stir in the garlic and cook for another minute. The smell of garlic and onion together is often the first sign that something comforting is on the way.
- Brown the ground turkey – Add the ground turkey to the skillet. Break it apart with a wooden spoon and cook until it is fully browned and lightly caramelized. This step adds depth and flavor to the Gordon Ramsay Ground Turkey Pasta.
- Build the sauce – Stir in the tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Let the sauce simmer for about 10 minutes so the flavors blend together. If the sauce becomes too thick, add a splash of the reserved pasta water.
- Combine pasta and sauce – Add the drained pasta to the skillet and toss everything together until the noodles are coated in the rich turkey tomato sauce.
- Finish with cheese and herbs – Sprinkle in the Parmesan cheese and fresh basil. Stir gently and serve immediately. The result is a warm bowl of Gordon Ramsay Ground Turkey Pasta that feels both comforting and vibrant.
Notes
- Feel free to adjust the spice level by omitting the red pepper flakes.
- This dish pairs well with a fresh salad or garlic bread for a complete meal.
