Description
A delicious gourmet sandwich featuring layers of pepperoni, cheese, and marinara sauce, perfect for a quick meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 artisan sandwich bun (like ciabatta or brioche)
- 1/2 cup marinara sauce
- 8–10 slices of pepperoni
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
- A pinch of garlic powder (optional)
- Fresh basil leaves (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Prep the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare the Bun: Slice the sandwich bun in half. Drizzle olive oil on the cut sides and sprinkle with garlic powder if using.
- Assemble the Sandwich: Spread the marinara sauce evenly on the bottom half of the bun. Layer half of the mozzarella cheese over the sauce. Arrange the pepperoni slices over the cheese. Sprinkle Italian seasoning and Parmesan cheese over the pepperoni. Add the remaining mozzarella cheese on top.
- Toast the Sandwich: Place the sandwich halves on a baking tray. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the bun is golden brown.
- Final Touch: Remove from the oven and let it cool for a minute. Add fresh basil leaves on top for garnish. Place the top half of the bun over the filling and press gently.
Notes
- Cheese Variations: You can add a mix of cheeses like provolone or sharp cheddar for more flavor.
- Spicy Kick: For a spicy version, add red pepper flakes to the marinara sauce.
- Crunchy Texture: Toast the bun separately for a crunchier texture before assembling the sandwich.
- Vegetable Add-ins: Feel free to add sautéed mushrooms, bell peppers, or onions for added flavor and nutrition.
