Description
A delicious recipe for Honey Garlic Chicken featuring tender chicken thighs or breasts marinated in a savory mixture.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 pieces chicken thighs or 2 chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces (Use thighs for juicier results.)
- 0 cup soy sauce (Ensure it’s halal-friendly.)
- 2 tablespoons fresh ginger, grated
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar (Use agave or maple syrup as alternatives.)
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 scallions chopped (for garnish)
- sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, grated ginger, minced garlic, honey (or brown sugar), and sesame oil to create the marinade.
- Add chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are evenly coated. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Heat a non-stick skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Optionally, add a splash of oil.
- Remove chicken from marinade (reserve it for later) and sear chicken pieces in the heated pan until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
- Pour in the reserved marinade and simmer for an additional 5-10 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked and sauce thickens slightly.
- Remove from heat, sprinkle garnishes of chopped scallions and sesame seeds, and serve hot.
Notes
- For a healthier alternative, consider using agave or maple syrup instead of honey or brown sugar.
- Optional: Serve with rice or vegetables for a complete meal.
