Description
A delightful and warm dessert that is perfect to enjoy with family and friends.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup whole milk
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup additional sugar (for the topping)
- Optional: whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine sliced peaches, 1 cup of sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Gently toss to coat the peaches evenly and set aside to marinate for about 10 minutes.
- In another bowl, mix together the flour, 1 cup of sugar, baking powder, and salt. Then, stir in the milk and melted butter until it forms a smooth batter.
- Pour the batter mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Gently spoon the marinated peaches over the batter, making sure to spread them evenly but do not stir.
- Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
- Once baked, allow the cobbler to cool for about 15 minutes before serving. This will help the flavors meld together beautifully.
- For the best experience, serve Fresh Southern Peach Cobbler warm. Pair it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for tantalizing goodness.
Notes
- Letting the cobbler cool slightly before serving enhances the flavor.
- This dish is best served warm.
