Instructions

- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until smooth and fluffy.
- Add Egg and Vanilla: Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Combine: Gradually blend in the dry ingredients until dough forms.
- Divide Dough: Divide the dough evenly into separate bowls, depending on the number of colors you wish to use.
- Color the Dough: Add a few drops of food coloring to each portion of dough and mix until fully incorporated.
- Create Swirls: Take a small piece of each colored dough and gently roll together into a ball. Be careful not to over-mix to maintain a distinct swirl.
- Roll in Sugar: Roll each swirled dough ball in additional granulated sugar.
- Bake: Place cookies on the prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart. Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until edges are set and cookies are lightly golden.
- Cool: Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
